1. (a) Define curl and div of a vector. State and prove Gauss theorem of divergence.

(b) What do you understand by collision ? Distinguish between elastic and inelastic collisions. Derive expressions for final velocities of two bodies after a one dimensional elastic collision between them.

2. (a) What is a central force? Show that central force is conservative force. State Kepler’s laws of planetary motion

(b) Describe the Michelson – Morley experiment and explain the physical significance of the negative result.

3. (a) Distinguish between damped and undamped vibrations of a harmonic oscillator. Form the equation for damped harmonic motion and obtain its solution.
