Nitish wishes space science study in Nalanda University

The Nalanda University (NU) which was opened on September 1 has started with only two schools: ecology and environmental studies, and history.

Patna: Profusely congratulating the Isro scientists for successfully placing a satellite into orbit around Mars, former chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed hope that the revived Nalanda University, which once played a lead role in teaching space science, may again take the lead if astronomy and space science are introduced in regular teaching.
He said had the Nalanda Mahavihara not been demolished over 800 years ago, the legacy of Aryabhatta would have been alive and this institution would have been taking a lead in the space science.
The Nalanda University (NU) which was opened on September 1 has started with only two schools: ecology and environmental studies, and history.
The history, Nitish added, is not built on the basis of ifs and buts.
"The Isro scientists have achieved unparalleled success in taking a big leap and reaching the red planet. This achievement will go down in the history with red letters. India spent less than other countries in making inroads in space world and Indian scientists proved that they are no less than their counterparts in any part of the globe," he said.
