Mumbai: Mumbai University will frame the timetable for TYBCom students on odd dates to avoid clashes with the chartered accountancy intermediate (IPC) exam. Since many university students appear for IPC and not CA final exam in November, officials have decided to start the exams after November 5, as decided earlier. Students will also get a shorter Diwali break this year, which will be compensated during the Christmas vacation. The proposal for the change in the academic term was accepted at the academic council meeting on Tuesday. A detailed timetable will be out in a day or two.

The university received a letter from the Institute of Chartered Accountancy of India informing them about the dates of the IPC exam. "The letter states that many students appear for the IPC exam now and not the finals. So we will take the IPC dates into consideration. We will not hold any final year semester V exam for TYBCom students on those even dates," said exam controller Dinesh Bhonde. He said most major exams such as TYBSc and TYBA that were rescheduled due to polls, will now begin from November 5 as decided in the board of examinations meeting on Friday. TYBCom may start from November 6, said the controller. The other exams to be held in November before the poll dates were announced, such as the engineering exams, will remain as per schedule, he said.
