MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Tuesday directed the state government to constitute a team of officers to conduct random checks during the SSC and HSC exams to verify its claim of uninterrupted power at test centres affected by load-shedding.

Some 2.5 lakh students will appear for the exams from September 26, and 94 out of 478 centres for SSC exams and 59 out of 281 centres for HSC exams are affected by load-shedding. A division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Girish Kulkarni issued the direction after the government advocate said generators and inverters would be provided at centres.

The judges in their order directed the secretary, school education and sports department, to form the team for inspection visits "without any prior intimation".
